Revised RHS Qualifications

The RHS is in the process of updating its Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications. This is normal practice for any awarding organisation and ensures that qualifications remain relevant, accurate and up-to-date. We are working with employers, training providers and learners to ensure that we continue to offer interesting and relevant qualifications that provide high-quality gardening skills and knowledge, and prepare learners for employment in the current horticultural industry.

The revised Level 3 qualifications are expected to be delivered from September 2023, for more information on the revised Level 3 qualifications please see our website: 


We appreciate that some learners may have concerns about the validity of qualifications they have either fully or partially completed. We can confirm that no learner will be disadvantaged by the introduction of the new qualifications and will be able to achieve the qualification on which they have enrolled.

June 2022 theory exams
• These dates are published on our website and on this portal in resources/documents/RHS Qualifications Examination dates (2022)

• If you experience a delay in receiving your practical results please contact your centre for further information

RHS Qualifications & Covid 19
RHS theory-based qualifications (Levels 2 & 3)
Examinations in 2022 will go ahead as planned, for exam dates please see resources/documents and you can see Examination dates documents for 2022
This will of course be subject to any public health guidance at the time.

RHS practical-based qualifications (Levels 1, 2 & 3)
If you are studying the RHS practical qualifications please speak to your centre regarding their delivery plans. RHS approved centres for the practical qualifications can offer remote assessments as part of the Extended Extraordinary Regulatory Framework if necessary.
